Singing teacher and founder of Vocal Coach Barcelona

Hello, I'm Maria Millet

Music isn’t a choice. It’s a vocation.
Just as some people communicate with movement and words, others connect with the universe through sounds, rhythms, and their voice.

In my family, music has always run in our blood.
My maternal great-grandmother, Rosalía Garitano, was an opera singer and toured Europe giving concerts.

On my father’s side, Lluís Millet was the founder of the Orfeó Català and dedicated his life to strengthening Catalan music.

The piano was my first passion.
Between games and fun, studying scores and musical pieces was my favorite pastime.
Time passes differently when you are a pianist.

I started singing at the age of 13. I sing at home, in bars, in theaters, I give concerts, I sing for the whole world.
Soul, Brazilian music, and R&B are the rhythms that make my heart beat faster.

I trained as a singer and pianist at the School of Modern Music in Badalona, and later at the Taller de Música in Barcelona with singer Carme Canela.

Music demands hours of dedication and study, so I moved to New York, where I studied jazz and modern music at various schools, alongside musicians such as Nancy Marano, Mercedes Hall, Jean McClelland, and Justin Stoney.

And since music draws me, I ended up in Brazil, where I studied Brazilian music composition and performance with greats such as Chico Pinheiro, Fatima Guedes, Paula Santoro, and Zé Luiz Mazziotti.

In 2014, I graduated as a singing teacher from the prestigious New York Vocal Coaching school.
In 2015, I took the Vocal course specializing in Rhythm & Blues at Berklee College of Music Online.
In 2016, I completed the Professional Diploma for Contemporary Singing at The Voice College in London, England.
I am a certified Level 3 teacher from the Modern Vocal Training Institute, earning the title of Advanced Vocal Coach.
In 2021, I obtained the European Certificate in Vocal Health First Aid.

The dancing can never stop.
That’s why, in March 2022, I obtained certification in Manual Laryngeal Manipulation Therapy with Stephen Kingfrom the Voice Care Center Institute in London.

There’s only one thing I love more than singing: singing together.
Seeing the evolution of a student who learns that singing takes more than just a beautiful voice.

"I am passionate about directing children's and adult choirs, teaching voice lessons, and performing with my musical groups. This is my life story, and I invite you to come sing with me."

La Fra is the artistic identity of Italian singer-songwriter Francesca Frigeri Ferretti. Based in Barcelona, she fuses Gypsy Jazz, Global Folk, and Brazilian and Latin American influences, shaped by a warm, smoky contralto voice, often compared to that of Lhasa de Sela.

Her songs explore femininity, transformation, roots, and our connection to nature, combining a personal narrative with a global musical vocabulary and theatrical sensibility.

La Fra is a co-founder of the World Music band Saffran! and a member of the duo Akajú and the all-female sextet Maracuyá. She has collaborated with artists such as Luiz Murá, Carola Ortiz, Jabu Morales (Ayom), and Cindy Pooch, among others. She is also a programmer (such as for the WOMB World Music Barcelona series), and for the past two years, she has been a vocal coach at María Millet’s Vocal Coach Barcelona school, where she discovered her passion for helping others find their own voice. Beyond music, she is a versatile and curious creator: always exploring, always experimenting, always transforming.
